HawkSoft and EZLynx are not the same purchase.

One is bought for its rater and its carrier list. The other is bought for how fast a small team gets productive in it. Pick the wrong axis and the comparison never resolves.

Entry price

Third-party listings put EZLynx around $350 a month to start and HawkSoft around $250, so HawkSoft is the cheaper door. EZLynx is described as modular, with automation, CRM, client portal and AI add-ons pushing a small agency into the $400 to $600 range once the pieces you actually wanted are switched on.

Modular pricing cuts both ways. It means you are not paying for things you do not use, and it means the demo price and the invoice price are different numbers. Get the quote itemized.

Carrier connections

This is EZLynx's case, and it is a strong one. It is reported to connect to more than 330 carriers and to pull vehicle and driver records to pre-fill ACORD forms. If personal lines volume is your business, comparative rating inside the same system that holds the client record removes a whole category of double entry.

If you are mostly commercial, that advantage shrinks fast. Commercial does not rate the way personal lines rates, and the carrier count stops being the number that decides your day.

Onboarding and support

This is HawkSoft's case. Review aggregators put HawkSoft's user sentiment meaningfully above EZLynx's: roughly 89 against 75 on one directory's scoring, and the free-text complaints split the same way. HawkSoft reviewers describe support that answers and an implementation that ends. EZLynx reviewers describe long waits and a long rollout.

For a five-person agency with no IT person, that gap is not a tiebreaker, it is often the decision. The system you can be productive in by month two beats the more capable system you are still fighting in month six, because the cost of the gap is paid in renewals you handled badly while you were learning.

How to actually decide

Personal lines heavy, high quote volume, someone in the office who enjoys software: EZLynx has more ceiling and the rater earns its money. Commercial heavy or mixed, small team, nobody who wants to be the systems administrator: HawkSoft is the safer buy and the reviews say so consistently.

Whichever way you go, run the total-cost question from the HawkSoft pricing article against both. Implementation and migration are where the two get closer than the sticker suggests.

What neither of them is for

Both are systems of record. They hold the book, the policy data, the activity log, the renewals calendar. Neither was built to produce the document a client reads before they say yes, which is why so many agencies still forward the carrier PDF and hope.

That is the gap Proposal Wolf sits in. It runs next to HawkSoft, NowCerts, EZLynx and Applied rather than replacing any of them, and it turns a carrier quote into a branded one-page proposal and letter PDF under your agency's name. There are two live samples on the examples page, and our name is not on either of them.
